Αbstract:	Η δράση Future library σκοπεύει να εισαγάγει την καινοτομία και τη δημιουργικότητα στην ατζέντα των Ελληνικών Λαικών Βιβλιοθηκών. Η παρουσίαση θα εστιάσει το ενδιαφέρον στα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας και στο διάλογο που αναπτύχθηκε στις 12 συναντήσεις που έγιναν στις Βιβλιοθήκες, Μάρτιο -Ιούνιο 2011. Η δράση χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το ίδρυμα "Σταύρος Νιάρχος". The Future library program funded by Stavros Niarchos foundation aims to introduce innovation and creativity into the agenda of Greek public libraries. The paper will present the initial findings of the report and will bring forward the dialogue which took place during the 12 events which were organized in libraries between March and June 2011.

Από το 1994 μέχρι το 2004 έχει συντονίσει τη συμμετοχή της Βιβλιοθήκης σε διάφορα προγράμματα που χρηματοδότησε απευθείας η Ε.Ε., προγράμματα MOBILE, PLDP, ISTAR, PUBLICA, PULMANXT, CALIMERA, Από το 2004 μέχρι το 2007 ήταν συντονιστής του προγράμματος LIGHT, που χρηματοδοτήθηκε στο πλαίσιο της δράσης Interreg III C East. Από το 2007 μέχρι και το 2011 συντονίζει τις δράσεις Entitle, Untol, Edlocal and AccessIT, όλα χρηματοδοτούμενα προγράμματα από την Ε.Ε.. Στις 12 Αυγούστου του 2010 παρέλαβε στη Στοκχόλμη το Βραβείου Πρόσβαση στη Γνώση που απένειμε στη Δημόσια Κεντρική Βιβλιοθήκη της Βέροιας το ίδρυμα Bill and Melinda Gates. Βρετανία, 1990. * Ioannis Trohopoulos, Director Veria Central Public Library, ioannis@libver.gr . Ioannis has been the director of Veria Central Public Library in Veria, Greece since 1990. From 1991 to 1996, he was also a lecturer on Library Automation and Management at the library school of the Technical University of Thessaloniki. In 1996, he received a scholarship from the United States Information Agency and worked for four months in the Clermont County Public Library in Ohio, U.S.A. From 1994 to 2004 he has been the national coordinator for six EU projects, namely the MOBILE (under the Libraries program), the PLDP (under the Phare program), Publica (under Libraries program) the ISTAR project (EU funded under Directorate-General XVI), the PULMAN Project (under the FP5 program) and the CALIMERA Project (under the FP6 program). From 2004 to 2007 he coordinated the Light Project, which was funded under Interreg III C East. From 2007 to 20011 he managed the European projects ENTITLE and UNTOLD, both funded under Grudvtiq programs and EDLocal and AccessIT EU projects, both related with the development of digital libraries. In August 2010, during the IFLA conference in Gothenburg, Sweden he received the Gates Foundation’s annual Access to Learning Award on behalf of Veria Central Public Library. He is a founding member of Future library, a nonprofit organization.
