Αbstract:	Οι βιβλιοθήκες αποτελούν μια αναμφισβήτητη οικονομική αξία, η οποία θα αναγκαίο είναι να αξιοποιηθεί προς όφελος της τοπικής της κοινωνίας. Η μείωση των επιχορηγήσεων για τα λειτουργικά έξοδά τους καθώς και ο εμπλουτισμός της κάθε είδους συλλογής απαιτούν στην παρούσα φάση: Ουσιαστική αξιολόγησή και ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στην εκτίμηση και στον καθορισμό των προτεραιοτήτων της κάθε επιμέρους βιβλιοθήκης. Επαναπροσδιορισμό των παραδοσιακά προσφερομένων υπηρεσιών για τη διασφάλιση της βιωσιμότητάς τους, τόσο σε βαθμό αξιολόγησης ως αποτελεσματικές και παραγωγικές, όσο και η ταυτόχρονη μετεξέλιξή τους ηλεκτρονικά, με τη χρήση νέων μέσων και ραγδαία εξελισσόμενων πηγών πληροφόρησης και υπηρεσιών. Παράλληλα με τα ανωτέρω κρίνεται απαραίτητος ο εκσυγχρονισμός και ο επαναπροσδιορισμός της οργανωτικής δομής των βιβλιοθηκών, ώστε να μπορούν να αντεπεξέρχονται αποτελεσματικά στις νέες ανάγκες και να ανταποκρίνονται στις προσδοκίες των χρηστών. Τhe libraries constitute an undeniable economic value, which necessary is it is developed to profit off her local society. The reduction of subsidies for their functional expenses as well as the enrichment of all kinds of collection require in the present phase: Essential evaluation and particular attention in the estimate and in the determination of priorities of each individual library. Redefinition of traditionally offered services for the guarantee of their viability, so much in the degree of evaluation as effective and productive, what their simultaneous evolution electronic, with the use of new means and rapidly evolving sources of information and services. In step with are above judged essential the modernization and the redefinition of the organizational structure of libraries, so that they can cope effectively with the new needs and correspond in the expectations of users.
